Cape St. Mary's is the ideal place to practice bird photography. The gannets are magnificent acrobatic fliers, and getting great shots is a challenge. It is also a very beautiful location in which to photograph other wild birds, flowers, and landscapes. St. Bride's is the village that is closest to Cape St. Mary's and thus the ideal place for your accommodations. There are many photographic opportunities in St. Bride's and the surrounding communities.
The Elliston workshop follows much the same format as the Cape St. Mary's workshop. In Elliston, we will be photographing puffins. As much as gannets are elegant fliers puffins are the complete opposite. They are a lot of fun to photograph and watch, and provide a completely different photographic challenge when compared to gannets. As well as photographing puffins, we will explore Bonavista and the surrounding villages for landscape and fishing village photographic opportunities. The Seaport Inn in Port Union is a convenient place to find affordable accommodation. It is also fairly close to Elliston.
The workshop includes photographic instruction, mentoring, introduction to areas visited, technical help, and feedback on images. The workshops will be limited to a maximum of 12 participants. Meals, accommodation, transportation, and photographic equipment are not included in the workshop fee. You should have your own camera, lenses, and memory cards.
